Feln

So in addition to getting more work done on the revisions and formatting of Chapter 4, this week has been spent mostly on determining how the worlds of Felnian Society are set up. This is just ONE of the four customized settings that I am planning to include in the final release of Multiversal, so there will be a LOT more information in the coming months, I promise. So here is a little information on Felnian society. There are four Felnian races, all feline, but biologically distinct (meaning they cannot produce offspring with each other). They each have distinct characteristics and distinct habitations. But they do share some things in common. First of all, they are all at lest mildly Matriarchal. This means that positions of power (in the goverment, business, military, and even the family) are more likley to be held by females than males. Another thing is that they are an interplanetary society. They have begun the process of exploring their galaxy and have colonized a few planets. Those planets will be given fuller descriptions, with cities, etc., than the rest, though I do plan to include a map extending beyond their domain. However, interplanetary travel, while certainly Faster than light, is not anywhere NEAR instanteaneous, and can take up to a few months, and ships do not have "stasis" technology for much long term travel. Communication is similarly constrained. Each of the Felnian races has colonized one planet, though exploration rules and planets are included in the setting. Politically, Feln is a democratic monarchy, but not in any modern earthly manner. Instead of having a hereditary monarchy, Felnians elect their nobles to a lifelong office, with the military being decentralized rather than centralized. Finally, while Felnian society is highly advanced, they do not possess contemparary firearms, instead relying on energy based swords, bows, etc. and "knights." Knights are giant piloted mechs with weapons of equal size, and each knight is expected to maintain his own mech and equipment. Men-at-arms are maintained by the lowest levels of nobility through taxes and a levy system, but also pilot smaller mechs.
